What this site collects
The JR Digital Works homepage and this page do not collect personal information. There is no tracking cookie and no newsletter form here. The Alley Quest game sends anonymous play events and offers an optional account, both described below.
Newsletters
Crack the Roll, SafeToUpdate, Own Your Wearable, and ReadyToGroom each have their own email newsletter. Signup happens on that site and is handled by Kit, not by jrdigitalworks.com. If you subscribe, you can unsubscribe from the email itself.
Contact
Email hello@jrdigitalworks.com if you want to write to Justin. That message is used to reply. Writing in does not add you to a newsletter.
Daily puzzle
The Cats & Dogs Daily puzzle is a separate page. You can play without an account. If you choose to add a time to the leaderboard, the name you enter, your time, and your mistake count are saved for that board.
Alley Quest
Alley Quest keeps your progress, settings, and skins in your own browser, along with a copy of its pictures and sounds so it can be played offline. To learn where players get stuck, the game also sends anonymous play events to our own server: when a run or fight starts and ends, which rewards were picked, which screens were opened, when the game would pause for an ad break (no ad network is connected yet, so no ads are shown), when the full-game offer is opened or the full game is unlocked (no payment details are ever sent), when the game is added to a home screen and whether it was opened from there, the game version, and your screen size. Each browser gets a random ID so runs can be grouped. It is not linked to your name, email, or IP address, and there is no cookie and no ad or third-party analytics service. Clearing the site's data in your browser resets the ID.
The Alley Quest daily and weekly leaderboards are optional. Only if you tap Post score, the game sends the name you type (or shows a random cat name if you leave it blank), your daily score and run stats (stops, fights, HP left, turns, win or loss), the game version, and the same random browser ID, so the board can show your rank and keep one score per player per day (on the weekly board, your best score that week). It is not linked to your email or IP address. The Endless Alley board works the same way: only if you tap Post depth, the game sends the name you type (or a random cat name), the depth you reached, the Heat, fights won and turns taken, the game version and the same random browser ID. It keeps one row per player, your deepest run.
Signing in to Alley Quest is optional; guests can play without one. If you create an account, we store a username you choose and a salted, scrambled hash of your password, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, we store only the ID number Google gives your account. We do not ask Google for, or keep, your email address, name, or photo. Either way we also store your game progress (unlocks, looks, Yarn, wins, settings and the play ID above) and a sign-in token, kept as a hash and valid for 180 days. You can delete your account and its saved progress at any time from the account screen in the game.
